Premier Wen Jiabao's Visit to Indonesia
Highlights of Chinese Premier Wen's visit in Indonesia
 (2011-05-01)

BEIJING, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Beijing on Saturday night after official visits to Malaysia and Indonesia.

The following are highlights of Chinese Premier Wen's activities in Indonesia on Saturday:

JAKARTA -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday put forward a four-point proposal for the widening of trade and economic cooperation between China and Indonesia.

While meeting with businessmen from both countries, Wen proposed to enlarge the scale of bilateral trade between China and Indonesia, step up bilateral cooperation in infrastructure construction, promote two-way investment and intensify multilateral trade and economic cooperation.

JAKARTA -- Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao reiterated here on Saturday the country's willingness to boost friendly relations with Indonesia and with the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

China will strengthen good-neighborly relations and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Indonesia to jointly create a bright future in bilateral ties, Premier Wen said in a speech at Balai Kartini in Jakarta.

The premier, who was on the last day of his two-day visit to Indonesia, said both China and Indonesia boast a long and splendid culture and the two peoples sympathized with and supported each others during the hard struggles for national independence and forged a strong bond of friendship.

Wen said China will stick to its policy of securing an amicable, tranquil and prosperous neighborhood in dealing with ASEAN, currently chaired by Indonesia.

"China will remain committed to this policy no matter what changes may take place in the international situation," he said.

JAKARTA -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Indonesian Vice President Boediono here Saturday to boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Wen said that Sino-Indonesian bilateral trade has grown rapidly in recent years as China has become the largest exporter of non-oil and gas products to Indonesia and the second largest export market and trading partner of the Southeast Asian country.

He said he has reached broad consensus with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and that the two sides have set a new target of achieving a two-way trade volume of 80 billion U.S. dollars by 2015.

JAKARTA -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan here Saturday, with both sides vowing to enhance bilateral cooperation and ties.

Wen said that over the past 20 years since China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) established dialogue relationship, pragmatic cooperation in various fields has been continuously deepened, which has also promoted their respective economic and social development, advanced the process of East Asia cooperation and made significant contribution to regional peace and stability.

JAKARTA -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Indonesian Speaker of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie here on Saturday.

Wen told Marzuki that he had an extensive exchange of views with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on comprehensively deepening pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two countries, adding the talks were "very fruitful."

He said the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Indonesian side to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and continue to advance the bilateral relations.
