Q: The "Papuan People's Congress" declared the "independence of Papua". What is your comment on that?

A:We have taken note of the position of President Wahid and the Indonesian government not to recognize the resolution of the independence of Papua and to oppose foreign countries' interference on this issue. The Chinese government as always supports the Indonesian government's endeavor to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity and the unity of the country.
