In July, Chinese and Indonesian state organizations will collaborate to host "Experience China," a series of activities throughout Indonesia to commemorate the 20th anniversary of dialogue between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Festivities including live ethnic singing and dance performances, Shaolin kung fu shows, and screenings of Chinese films will be held in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan as well as Semarang, said Wang Zhongwei, vice minister of China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) on Friday. Other planned events include a forum celebrating the 20th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue, a networking event for Chinese and Indonesian journalists, and book donation.

"Experience China" aims to foster mutual trust, economic cooperation and cultural exchange between China, ASEAN, and Indonesia, Wang said.

The series is co-sponsored by the SCIO, China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the Chinese People's Institute for Foreign Affairs, the Chinese Embassy to Indonesia, the Chinese Consulate-General in Surabaya, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

"Experience China" is one of a series of programs to mark 2011 as the China-ASEAN "Friendly Exchange Year."
