NHC Update on COVID-19

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 2 March, the following were newly reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 125 confirmed cases;

b) 31 fatal cases (all in Hubei);

c) 129 suspected cases;

d) 2,742 cured and discharged cases;

e) 7,650 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 304 fewer severe cases.

2. As of 24:00, 2 March, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 30,004 confirmed cases (including 6,806 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 47,204 cured and discharged cases;

c) 2,943 fatal cases;

d) 80,151 confirmed cases;

e) 587 suspected cases; and

f) 664,899 close contacts traced (including 40,651 still under medical observation).

3. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 2 March, the following were newly reported by Hubei:

a) 114 confirmed cases (including 111 in Wuhan);

b) 2,410 cured and discharged cases (including 1,846 in Wuhan);

c) 31 fatal cases (including 24 in Wuhan); and

d) 64 suspected cases (including 62 in Wuhan).

As of 24:00, 2 March, Hubei had reported:

a) 28,216 confirmed cases (including 24,144 in Wuhan) still under treatment;

b) 6,593 severe cases (including 6,020 in Wuhan);

c) 36,167 cured and discharged cases (including 23,031 in Wuhan);

d) 2,834 fatal cases (including 2,251 in Wuhan);

e) 67,217 confirmed cases (including 49,426 in Wuhan); and

f) 434 suspected cases (including 316 in Wuhan).

4. As of 24:00, 2 March, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 151 confirmed cases:

a) 100 (including 36 discharged cases and 2 fatal cases) in the Hong Kong SAR;

b) 10 (including 8 discharged cases) in the Macao SAR; and

c) 41 (including 12 discharged cases and 1 fatal case) in the Taiwan region.
