Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with Indonesian Vice President Boediono here Tuesday, with both pledging to promote the bilateral ties to a new high.
"Not long ago, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono made a rewarding visit to China and the two countries reached consensus on strengthening strategic bilateral relations and deepening cooperation, which paved the way for future development of bilateral ties," Hui said.
The two sides have signed a series of cooperative agreements at the government level, ranging from trade, maritime research, drug control to tourism, which embodies the broad scope of the bilateral relations, Hui said.
China has all along attached great importance to implementing the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, tried to improve the existing dialogue mechanism, and continually pushed forward the China-Indonesia relationship based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, he said.
Welcoming Hui's visit to Indonesia on behalf of President Yudhoyono, Boediono said China's social and economic achievements were marvelous and Indonesia would like to learn its experiences for better development.
The two countries are highly complementary to each other economically and have great potential for cooperation, Boediono said. He expressed the hope that the two countries would take advantage of their own development outlook and increase cooperation in infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, defense and tourism, improve trade structure and achieve the goal of common development.
Earlier in the day, Hui attended a breakfast meeting to exchange views with Indonesia's business community.
Hui is now in Indonesia for the final leg of his five-nation tour, which has taken him to Macedonia, Montenegro, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
