On September 4th, 2009, H. E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China sent a message of condolence to H.E. Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda, Minister for Foriegn Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, mourning the heavy loss of life and property in the strong earthquake that occurred in West Java Provicne on 2 September. Following is the full text of the message:

 " I am shocked to learn that strong earthquakes have occurred in West Java Province on Indonesia, causing heavy casualties and loss of property. I wish to extend to Your Excellency and, through your Excellency, to the people affected by the disaster my sincere solicitude. I am confident that under the leadership of your Goverment, the people in the disaster-strichen region will certainly rebuild their homeland at an early date."
