Li Keqiang Meets with Robert O'Brien, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs of the United States (US)

On November 4, 2019 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in Bangkok with Robert O'Brien, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs of the United States (US) and head of the US delegation to the 14th East Asia Summit.

Li Keqiang expressed, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US. The two countries' exchanges and cooperation have brought tangible benefits to both sides and are also beneficial to the world. As the world undergoes complex and profound changes, the two countries need to meet each other halfway to make bilateral relations develop in a healthy and stable manner, and it also meets the expectations of the international community. The two sides should follow the consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote China-US relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and manage differences on the basis of equality and mutual respect, while expanding cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results, in a bid to push bilateral relations to move forward along the right track.

Robert O'Brien said, US-China relations bear great significance to both countries and the world. The bilateral trade consultations have gained positive progress, which is in line with the common interests of two countries as well as countries across the world. Despite of divergences, the US and China need to properly handle them in a constructive way, so as to promote bilateral relations to move forward.

State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross of the US were present.
