Yang Jiechi Holds Telephone Talks with US President's National Security Advisor Michael Flynn

On February 3, 2017, State Councilor Yang Jiechi held telephone talks with the US President' National Security Advisor Michael Flynn at request.

Yang Jiechi expressed that China and the United States have broad common interests and great potential for cooperation.Both sides should continue to carry out cooperation that conforms to the real benefits of the two countries and the two peoples. China hopes that the new US government will make joint efforts with China to enhance exchanges at high-level and all levels, safeguard the political foundation of bilateral relations, expand bilateral, regional and global cooperation in various fields and properly manage and control disputes and sensitive issues so as to push China-US relations for better development.

Michael Flynn noted that the US government is committed to developing strong US-China relations, and is willing to, together with China, reinforce high-level exchanges, conduct mutually beneficial cooperation and handle sensitive issues in a proper manner. The US and China could launch extensive cooperation in bilateral, regional and international affairs. The US side hopes to continue to maintain close communications with China.

Both sides also exchanged views on some regional issues.
