Wang Yi Meets with Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António

On November 29, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António in Dakar when attending the Eighth Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Wang Yi said that China attaches great importance to China-Angola relations and supports Angola in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. The solidarity and cooperation between China and Angola on the international stage to safeguard each other's legitimate rights and interests not only manifest the traditional friendship between the two countries, but also show a high degree of mutual political trust between the two countries. China is willing to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides to help Angola achieve faster development. 

António extended congratulations on the successful opening of the Eighth Ministerial Meeting of the FOCAC, and said that President Xi Jinping's important speech is of vital importance to the future development of Africa. Angola highly praised that China and Angola have shared weal and woe and joined hands in fighting the pandemic, which not only made important contributions to saving people's lives in Angola, but also set a "Chinese example" for international anti-pandemic cooperation. Angola appreciates China's active role in solving the problem of vaccine shortage in Africa, and hopes to get greater support from China in joint production of vaccines and transfer of the International Monetary Fund's special drawing rights.

Wang Yi said that China supports Chinese enterprises in actively exploring cooperation with Angola on vaccine production to help Angola defeat the pandemic at an early date. China is ready to provide assistance within its capacity for Angola's post-pandemic economic development.
