2019/12/04

On 29th November, Ambassador Xiao Qian met with Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahendra Siregar. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on China-Indonesia bilateral relations and trade and economic cooperation.

Ambassador Xiao congratulated H.E. Mahendra for assuming his new duty. The Ambassador commended social and economic development of Indonesia and gave a positive account of the growth of China-Indonesia relations in various areas. Ambassador Xiao said, China attaches great importance to developing relations with Indonesia. Not long ago, a new cabinet was formed in Indonesia, and thus brought new opportunities for the further development of China-Indonesia relations. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Indonesian side for the even greater development of the bilateral relations in the coming 5 years.

H. E. Mahendra said, Indonesia-China relations enjoy sound momentum with great potential and deserve a more ambitious future. With challenges in the current world, China and Indonesia share broad common interest as major developing countries. To answer these challenges together, the two countries should step up practical cooperation at bilateral level, and strengthen coordination in multi-lateral platforms.
