Chinese Embassy in Indonesia Holds Reception Celebrating Ambassador Xiao Qian's Assumption of Office

On the evening of February 27th, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia held a reception celebrating the assumption of office of Chinese Ambassador Xiao Qian at Ritz-Carlton Jakarta. Present at the reception were over 700 guests, including H.E. Mr. Oesman Sapta Odang, Chairman of Regional Representatives Council (DPD), H.E. Mr. Rudiantara, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, H.E. Mr. Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning and Mr. Said Aqil Siroj, General Chairman of Indonesia's largest Muslim organization, "Nahdlatul Ulama", as well as other government officials, business and cultural organization representatives, journalists, scholars, friends from Chinese communities and Ambassadors of friendly nations. H.E. Mr. Huang Xilian, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN , representatives of Chinese businessmen, overseas students, and volunteer teachers in Indonesia also joined the reception. At the beginning, Indonesian children dressed in traditional costumes performed national anthems of Indonesia and China.

In his remarks, Ambassador Xiao Qian spoke highly of the positive progress made over recent years in China-Indonesia relations, and shared updates in bilateral high-level exchanges, practical cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges. As China entered a new era, the development of China-Indonesia relationship is faced with tremendous opportunities, said Ambassador Xiao Qian. China is ready to work with Indonesia to create greater synergy between development strategies, achieve common development, promote regional integration, and build a new type of international relations, so as to contribute to the peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.

 

The reception was held in a warm atmosphere. Guests extended congratulations to Ambassador Xiao Qian, and spoke highly of China's development and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. They offered support to the Ambassador and Chinese Embassy, to jointly push forward the bilateral relationship between China and Indonesia. The reception drew wide coverage by media of both countries, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, China News Service, The Economic Daily, The Jakarta Post, Kompas, Republika, Rakyat Merdeka, Metro TV, Kumparan.com, Guojiribao, Shangbao, Inhua Daily.
