Remarks by Mr. Sun Weide, Chargé d' Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia at Arrival Ceremony of Giant Pandas
2017/09/28

Your Excellency Ms. Siti Nurbaya,

Minister of Environment and Forestry,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Dear friends,

Today, thanks to the efforts and support of out two presidents and our two peoples, a pair of giant pandas,"Huchun" and "Caitao", have arrived in Indonesia. This marks yet another historical moment in our bilateral relationship.

At the very beginning, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, I would like to offer my sincere appreciation to the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Taman Safari, Chinese State Forestry Administration, China Wildlife Conservation Association, Garuda Indonesia and all our friends, for their thoughtful arrangements and commitment to giant panda conservation.

As China's national treasure, giant pandas are adored worldwide as envoys for friendship and symbol of peace. Today, "Caitao" and "Huchun" have traveled all the way from their home in Sichuan to the country of Thousand Islands. Their arrival highlights the deep friendship between our two peoples, and will help re-invigorate our friendly exchanges and bilateral relationship.

I am sure "Caitao" and "Huchun" will enjoy their new home in Taman Safari and bring great joy to our Indonesia friends. I hope they will have a baby panda soon and bring even more happiness to us.

    Terima kasih.
