Ambassador Liu Jianchao Pays a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament

On 12 March, the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Mr. Liu Jianchao paid a courtesy call on Mr. Marzuqi Ali, the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament. The two sides had a friendly exchange of views on China-Indonesia relations and the cooperation between China's National People's Congress and the Parliament of Indonesia.

Ambassador Liu conveyed to Mr. Marzuqi Ali the cordial greetings from Chairman Wu Bangguo. Liu said, currently the bilateral ties have enjoyed rapid development and maintained frequent high-level exchanges of visits. The cooperation in the areas of politics, economy and people-to-people exchanges have generated fruitful results. The Chinese side is looking forward to the state visit by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono later this month. China will continue its active support to the infrastructure construction in Indonesia and expand its investment so as to benefit the two peoples.

Mr. Marzuqi Ali expressed warm welcome to Ambassador Liu and asked him to convey the greetings to Chairman Wu Bangguo. He spoke highly of the development of the bilateral ties and welcome more Chinese investors to Indonesia. He hopes the Indonesian Parliament and China's National People's Congress will step up their cooperation in international and regional affairs. He said, the bilateral people-to-people exchanges have been very frequent in recent years and he wishes to see more Chinese tourists visit Indonesia. The two sides also exchanged ideas on cooperation in media and culture fields.
